Today’s feature is about street children. Most of you should be aware of those kids whose curiosity, sadness and shabbiness always bothers us when in town or some other street.

One should know that these kids are not on the streets out of choice. They are usually forced there by circumstances and we cannot hold them responsible for being there. The blame should be placed on the parents, guardians, relatives and society too.

It is probably degenerating family values and ties that is partly responsible for these children’s plight.

We should therefore not just watch as the numbers of Rwanda’s future, children, grow on the streets. You can make the world a better place by simply starting with your home.

Practice family planning in order to have only that or those you can adequately cater for, shun gender based violence in order to prevent your children from resorting to the street for refuge and try to be a law abiding citizen whose qualities include respect for human life and dignity.

You don’t have to tear down and rebuild the world all over again. But you sure can play your simple role.

And on the kids already on the street, show some compassion and if possible, adopt one and try to give it a brighter future.
