President Paul Kagame was on Wednesday night granted an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. This education award is not so common, but is given to someone with outstanding performance.

Rwanda as a country that is recovering from the aftermath of the 1994 mayhem has all reasons to be admired given the fact that it is scoring very well at many fronts.

Our President was rewarded for his good leadership skills and his undying commitment to nation building and reconciliation in Rwanda.

This tremendous achievement comes after Rwanda emerged second in the world in gender equity at the UN headquarters in New York recently.

It is a reminder to all African countries to have education systems that are aligned to respective national development priorities, which necessarily calls for trained professionals and experts to drive growth.

The President’s reward is a clear testimony that the people of Rwanda, with him at the top love their country and respect democratic principles.
