KARONGI - Judges in the country have been urged to develop their intellectual capacity in order to boost their levels of competency.

The High Court president, Johnston Busingye, made the call while meeting members of the legal fraternity from Karongi, Rusizi and Rutsiro districts, on Wednesday.

Busingye urged the judges to uphold impartiality, and desist from corruption in order to earn respect and trust from the public.

"If theses timeless values are not visible in our day today activities, no matter how much we shout or which words we use, citizens will not trust us and our decisions will worry them,” he said.

The meeting was aimed at assessing the achievements of judiciary during the second judicial term.

Busingye called for quick dispensation of justice, noting that ‘justice delayed is justice denied.’
