AS Kigali players are set to be rewarded with cash prizes after a successful campaign in the 2008/09 women football league.

The city-council side lifted the league trophy after beating champions APR on goal difference. It was a close race but AS Kigali under their experienced coach Grace Nyiranumuntu had the last laugh.

The Mayor of Kigali Dr. Aisa Kakira Kirabo will now reward the players in a brief ceremony at Nyamirambo regional stadium later today.

"It is a good move from Kigali City Council and I’m sure it will go down well with the players. The cash incentives should motivate them (players) ahead of the new season,” Nyiranumuntu noted.

The German-trained tactician has also revealed to Times Sport that she is looking to bring in some new faces in the side.

"I need to revamp the squad with four or five players. We need to strengthen the striking line as well as the wings,” she said.

The new season team kicks off November 29.
