HERVE Renard has backed Zambia to qualify for next year’s African Nations Cup at the expense of Amavubi.

The Chipolopolo suffered a harsh 1-0 defeat against Algeria last Sunday but Zambia’s head coach Renard reckons that draws against Amavubi and Egypt will see his side through.

"The result in Algeria was a bit harsh because we played well but we still have a big chance to get to Angola,” he said. Zambia’s next game is against Egypt (October 10) and Renard believes that the African champions will come out hard at them as they look to edge Algeria to that lone World Cup slot.

"Egypt will come looking for three points but a draw for us coupled with another draw from the Rwanda game is all we need to qualify.”

On the other hand, Amavubi, who lie at the bottom of Group C with a point need to win their remaining games to stand a chance of making a second appearance in Africa’s premier football event.

Algeria top the group on 10 points, six-time African champions Egypt are three points adrift in second place while Zambia are third on four points.
