OLIVIER Karekezi believes that the Sports Ministry and the local football governing body, Ferwafa have been too soft on Amavubi head coach Branko Tucak.

The former Amavubi skipper reckons that Tucak’s untouchable status is part of the reason why Rwanda has struggled in the 2010 World/ Africa Nations Cup final qualification round.

"It’s high time the Sports ministry and FA stopped giving him (Tucak) a shoulder to lean on because it is costing us,” the 26-year-old fumed.

Similar to Hamad Ndikumana Katauti’s recent remarks, Karekezi also highlighted tension in the team’s technical staff as another major set-back.

"It is always going to be hard for the team to perform if the coaches don’t resolve their differences,” Karekezi, who had been linked with a move to Notts County noted.

With two games left, Amavubi face a tough challenge of qualifying for next year’s Africa Nations Cup (CAN) in Angola.

The team is currently at the foot of Group C after managing a point out of a possible twelve and needs to win her remaining games (against Zambia and Algeria) to stand a chance of travelling to Angola.

Algeria top the group on 10 points, African champions Egypt are second on seven points while Zambia is third on four points.

Rwanda’s World Cup dreams were ruined after last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Egypt.
