Judging from his talent and enthusiasm, The New Times’ Eugene Mutara has set his eyes above and focused on gospel music.

Mutara, a.k.a God’s Will, burst to fame during a pre-album launch concert ‘Ijya kurisha ihera ku rugo’, last Sunday, at HotelTech, Remera.

Journalist/singer and songwriter Mutara is set to launch his first album "Rescued” early this month.

The album produced by Justin Production has 14 tracks: ‘Humura’ (Kwaito/zulu style), ‘Umwana w’Umuntu’ (Kinyarwanda traditional) and ‘Yezu nigisubizo’ (salsa and blues styles).

‘Rescued’ was in collaboration with Corner Stone Choir, but Mutara noted that nine tracks on the album were solely composed and written by him.

This versatile gospel singer is passionate about what he does. Mutara insists that his talent is God-given and that it’s his destiny into Rwanda’s budding music industry.

"My music is of a cause. I preach peace and unity in families, and I want to inspire young gospel musicians,” Mutara said.

He rates Don Moen, Will Smith and the late Lucky Dube very highly and often cites them as his inspiration.

Mutara is also best known for his hit track "Mama”, a song he dedicated to his mother and to all mothers in the world.
