We are… A small orphanage in Rwanda on the shores of Lake Kivu, far away from everything, yet so close to so many has become a shining beacon of hope, a ray of sunshine through the clouds, and, more importantly, a home.
We are…
A small orphanage in Rwanda on the shores of Lake Kivu, far away from everything, yet so close to so many has become a shining beacon of hope, a ray of sunshine through the clouds, and, more importantly, a home.
A home to 110 orphans, young and old, many orphaned by the genocide or killings spawned by the genocide in later years, LIVE.
Yet the orphans who were, are orphans no more...
We are family
The traditional terms; siblings, parents, brother, mother, father, sister; are all out of focus, escaped from this plain we call reality. True meanings are unclear.
Certain situations arouse questions, confusing the mind, yet bringing a certain understanding to the heart.
Is this person my brother or my father? Should I respect them? Can I argue with them? Will they bring me food when I am hungry, and clothes when I am cold?
Mother and father are a thing of the past, yet family lives on. What is one day is not the next, what was will not be again, and what will be has not yet been.
Times and lives change like seasons. Smiles turn to anger. Anger turns to tears. Tears turn to hugs, and hugs to friendship. Then it starts all over again, the circle of life.
We are lost
We are searching for ourselves, for others, for the children. We don’t know where we are, yet we know where we are going. And we will arrive.
We are on a
journey….
A journey to do what no one like us has ever done before. Far away from everything in the middle of Africa, we will become completely economically independent.
Yet taking care of all our needs ourselves.
Through various economical enterprises we will be able to support a child from birth until they have achieved the desires of their goals.
We are dreamers…
Dreaming of something so small in the world’s standards; yet so huge. So magnificent in the eyes of the affected, that it can only be described by the words of the heart.
We are dreaming in our hearts, in our minds, in our souls. Yet dreaming is only dreaming, and will stay dreaming unless something is done other than dreaming.
We are doers…
We have dreams but we are making them happen.
There is a time when meetings need to cease and tribunals end; a time when counsels must close their laptops and start using their hands.
There comes a time when talking needs to stop, and something needs to be done.
We have many small projects and plans, dealing with everyday life of the children, training them to become responsible adults.
