2009 CECAFA champions Atraco FC are on the verge of handing new contracts to five key players. Club captain Shyaka Jean, Lomani Andre, Hamis Kitagenda, Peter Kagabo and Jean Luc Ndayishimiye have all agreed to extend their stay at the taxi-men club.
According to the club’s assistant coach Emmanuel Ruremesha, the players will sign during the course of the week.
"They are key players to the club and we are glad that they have agreed to extend their stay here. It is very important that they sign before we embark on pre-season training next week,” Ruremesha added.
Atraco have also revealed that they plan to sign more players ahead of what is going to be a demanding season.
Atraco are set to play in a number of competitions ranging from CAF Confederations Cup, Cecafa, Amahoro Cup and the league and therefore need a big squad to make a genuine challenge.
An inside source said, "the club is looking at bring in about six players; two midfielders, two strikers and two defenders.”
Despite being pipped by APR to last year’s league title, Atraco held their nerve to seal off a deserved double after lifting the Cecafa and Amahoro Cup.
