RUSIZI —The High Court president Johnston Busingye, has called on Judges in the country to always aim at doing their best in order to strengthen the justice sector.
He made the call, last week, while meeting members of the legal fraternity drawn from Rusizi and Nyamasheke district courts.
He urged the judges to expedite trials and clear the backlog of cases.
"I encourage you as legal practitioners in this region to lay down more strategies to improve your daily court activities.
There is need to dispose of in a timely manner backlog cases in your respective courts because whenever a case delays this serves to complicate relations between the aggrieved parties,” he said.
Busingye cautioned the judges against corruption which he said undermines their integrity.
The judges appealed to the government to boost their competitiveness through deploying ICT within their working sites
The meeting that was held at St Françoise conference hall in Kamembe, Rusizi District was held to assess the achievements of the second judicial term, which Busingye said showed an improvement over the first term.
