Newly appointed Amavubi Stars head coach, Josip Kuze has admitted that young players would make the bulk of his team that will take in the forthcoming regional and continental championships.

While addressing a press conference held on Tuesday at Amahoro stadium, the former Croatian international acknowledged that Rwanda has what he described as an ‘wealth’ of talented young players around whom he plans to rotate his national teams plans.

"I have no time to prepare a strong team for Cecafa as well as the 2010 CAN preliminary qualifiers but still the priority for me would be to build the team around the young players,” he said.

Before emphasizing that his criteria to select the squad for the regional Senior Challenge Cup in Tanzania and the CAN2010 would be based on the each player’s physical and mental ability, moral as well age.

He noted, "I don’t need old players neither do I need younger players just for the sake (of it) but the selection will rotate around those (four) conditions (for the mean time)”.

The ex-Dynamo Zagreb coach said that given support and resources, he hopes to have built a strong squad by next January, which would include local and European based players.

Meanwhile, the Croat said he would name the 25-man squad for Cecafa tournament on November 21-22.

The journey-man took over from Michael Nees last month after Rwanda failed to qualify for the 2008 Ghana Nations’ Cup finals.

Kuze won the Croatian league with Dynamo Zagreb and has also worked in Australia, Germany and Japan.

The 55-year old signed a two-year deal with an option to extend it (if conditions fit both parties), which will see him in charge of the Amavubi team until 2010.

His first major assignment will be next month during the Cecafa Challenge Cup tournament in Tanzania.

A rather controversial figure who is reportedly linked to gamble, Kuze is recognised for his innovative thinking and his superb motivational abilities in his previous assignments.
