CSR Headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali. CSR is to be commended for embracing ICT, what can it do about employers who refuse to remit workers contributions

Editor,

I would like to congratulate CSR for its recent service where one can check out one’s account status using a mobile phone.

You know, when we hear our leaders say that they want Rwanda to be an ICT hub and to be a knowledge based economy, we sometimes feel it might just be a dream.

But it is small steps like these that will lead us towards that goal.

I was happy to use the simple steps as advertised by CSR in The New Times and voila, the results were promptly displayed on my phone’s screen.

I was sitting in the comfort of my office; I hadn’t had to queue up at CSR offices.

The sad news is that my current employer has not deposited my CSR contributions for the past one year and more.

So, what does one do in such an instance? What if I change a job one day, will my employer who has not been declaring my CSR monies, do it in my absence without some form of legal wrangle?

Is the declaration done annually? But this would be meaningless since CSR shows the status of each month in a year and not each year!

So, CSR, please, remind employers to pay up or else we stand to lose and you would also be partly to blame. But I will once again congratulate you for this new method. Keep it up.
