KICUKIRO – The court case pitting John Bosco Gasasira, the Editor-in-Chief of Umuvugizi, a Kinyarwanda tabloid, against state prosecutor John Bosco Mutangana, has been postponed to September 9.
Mutangana accuses Gasasira of slander, defamation and invasion of privacy.
The case did not commence as Gasasira requested to see his doctor and was also yet to acquire a legal representative.
"Gasasira has the right to be represented in court, so we gave him time to prepare himself, the reasons he gave were genuine,” the president of Kagarama Court of Lower Instance, Janvier Muhire told The New Times yesterday.
Gasasira recently told The New Times that he had evidence supporting his publications and that he was a journalist who only reports what happens.
"It was not an analysis, not my opinion, it was a news piece. I reported what was there, he can go to court if he wants,” Gasasira said recently.
