Editor,

I was strongly touched by the issue that Gasagara village in Kabuga has no dispensary.

People have to go as far as 12 km to get to a health centre. The village is far away from the main road but the only place where they go for treatment is Kabuga or Masaka.

The illness is something that is never prepared for. And in this case, when transportation isn’t available, things can get quite tricky.

There are no taxis at all; a person has to rent one of the very scarce motorbikes at Rwf3000 to reach Kabuga.

Very few people in the village can raise such an amount of money just for transport to the doctor. Besides, pregnant women and children can’t handle the distance.

Something needs to be done before these people lose their lives. Good health is more vital than anything.
