MUSANZE- The High Court president, Johnston Busingye, has urged judges in the country to embrace the use of ICT and learn English in order to fit in with the country’s entry into the East African community (EAC).
Busingye made the call on Wednesday, while meeting over 300 judges, prosecutors and court registers drawn from the Rubavu and Musanze courts.
The meeting was held to assess the achievements of the second judicial term, which he said was a success.
He urged participants to always submit their reports in soft copy via Internet.
"This is an era of information technology, we don’t have to use papers any more, reports should be compiled and sent through email. You don’t have to travel to Kigali to bring these reports,” he said.
In a separate interview, Busingye added that members of the legal fraternity have to embrace the English language in order to serve in a better fashion the country’s aspirations for being part of the EAC regional bloc.
"The reason why you have to learn English is due to the fact that as part of the new dispensation which Rwanda will join our local judicial officers will be eligible for transfers for service to any place within East Africa,” he said.
