The Media select Amavubi Stars side held their Ferwafa counterparts to a 2-all draw in a match played on Tuesday at Amahoro national stadium, Remera.
The game was called by the new national team coach who wanted to use it as a way of looking to his lot of players in action for the first time before selecting the squad for this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup slated for December 8-22 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Josip Kuze was in the pavilion as his newly appointed assistants Capt. Jean Marie Ntagwabira and Anttoine Rutsindura took charge of the Ferwafa select side and the Media select respectively.
APR’s Eric Serugaba’s gave the media select side a deserved lead with a brilliant header on the 35th minute off Theoneste Muhayimana cross from the right flank.
But Atraco defender Ismail Nshutinamagara leveled for the Ferwafa select in bizarre fashion when his clearance cum short from the centre-line caught Jean Clause Ndolioff his line.
Both coaches made several changes at half time but it was the ‘senior’ side that took the lead on the hour mark through Elias Uzamukunda.
But with five minutes left on the clock, Serugaba leveled for the Media select team with a sweet half volley.
The Ferwafa select was missing several of its top guns including Labama Bokota, Kalisa Kase, Haruna Niyonzima, Aimable Rucogoza as well as Patrick Mafisango.
