The ongoing Health Summit that opened on Monday is timely. It comes at a time when the country is taking huge strides in a nationwide healthcare drive that will see a remarkable difference in the lives of even the most vulnerable Rwandans.

For this to happen money is needed and what Dr. Margaret Chan, Executive Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO), said about money management is true.

She said that money is important to achieve results in Africa and it must be used properly.

This implies that Health issues in Africa need to be dealt with intricately.

Incidents of Global Fund embezzlements, like the incidents in Uganda two years ago where health officials channeled into their pockets billions of dollars meant for malaria eradication, cannot be allowed to occur in Rwanda.

Accountability, responsibility, commitment and integrity must be the essence of achieving success in the health sector. 

The Health Minister, Richard Sezibera too, deserves applaud for the efforts he has put in place as he pushes for the implementation of various opportunities that are addressing Rwanda’s major health challenges.
