Tayari Communications has introduced online property listing where landlords can get in contact directly with either prospective tenants or buyers in a move it said will reduce speculative motives of property brokers.

According to company officials, house brokers commonly known as commissionaires have been exploiting property owners and those in need because of the housing shortage in the country.

Thierry Hakizimana, President and Chief Operations Officer of Tayari Communications said that the new program will benefit both property owners and people who want residential or commercial houses for renting or buying.

"This is largely because we want to cut short the chain of brokers, reduce costs involved, and time wasted to both partners,” he said.

Online property listing will calm the price fears for buyers who had become reluctant to pay too much for properties because of speculation from brokers where they will engage in direct talks with property owners.

"These blockers tend to own the properties, you deal with them and at the final moment the real owner comes and you start other negotiations,” Hakizimana said.

The online property listing is targeting Diaspora, holiday makers and young graduates for a wide range of products including cottages, rooms, residential properties, flats, holiday rentals and mobile homes.

Prices are set depending on the type of the property whether residential or commercial and the duration to be on the web.

Hakizimana said that properties for sale can be posted with description on the Website between three and nine weeks while property for rent takes between one to three weeks.

The company said it intends to expand to equipment and furniture and explore regional markets starting with Burundi and Uganda.
