APR Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa yesterday told Times Sport that the player was loaned after he failed to sign a professional contract with the French side due to what he described as "managerial problems”.
"We have agreed to loan him [Uzamukunda] to Nantes for one year. Their former coach was interested in the player but when the club was relegated, the coach left and now the new managerial has its own ideas.
"Under the agreement between the two clubs, the striker will stay at Nantes to enable them follow him closely before they decide whether to sign him permanently or not,” Kalisa said.
He noted that the Rwandan international would be remunerated like any other professional.
Uzamukunda, whose contract with APR expired with the end of last season, will be featuring for Nantes reserve side.
The 20-year-old was spotted by Nantes recruitment officer on the Africa continent, Moussa Soumah during the African Youth Championship held in Kigali early this year where the player was one of Rwanda’s top performers.
The ex-AS Kigali forward has been undergoing a second trial with the team since early last month despite passing his first trial back in February.
