FDLR blocks troop movement

The Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) has started the use of landmines to block the movements of Congolese soldiers conducting operations against the rebel group in South Kivu province.

The commander of the operations in South Kivu Colonel Delphin Kahimbi has said.

Pentecostal Church reopens

Kicukiro district has given a go-ahead to African Christian Church Rwanda to restart operations after months of closure.

The church had been closed after a power struggle erupted between Reverend James Muhemeri and his duty Pastor, Felix Muhooza.

According to Muhooza’s faction, the leader of the rival camp had ordained himself Bishop contrary to the governing rules that do not allow such a position.

Staff to retain positions

95% Nyagatare district employees will retain their positions.
The development was revealed by the district officials during a meeting called to design a new structure of action plan on basic education.

According to the district officials the plan will suit the district’s development ambitions. 

The district will build more classrooms for over 2011 pupils in the district.

Radio Flash, Sulfo promote Umuganda

Radio Flash and Sulfo Industries have embarked on a drive to encourage citizens to participate more in Umuganda.

Derek Kagimu, Radio Flash’s Marketing Manager said that the promotion is aimed at encouraging the protection of our environment and identifying those cells that put an effort in the safeguarding of their environment during the Umuganda day.

Lawmakers to meet religious leaders

Parliamentary Forum for Population is organizing a 2-day seminar in Nyagatare district in conjunction with the Pentecostal church leaders together with women leaders to discuss issues concerning the population growth.

The seminar will tackle ways of maintaining the population that will be proportion to the resources of the country.
