After weeks of unrest, Rayon Sport finally has a management committee that is intent on taking the club to its glorious old days, that’s the view of the club Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya.

The club convened an extra ordinary general assembly on Saturday to elect a new executive committee, and Senator Valens Munyabagisha retained his post as president.

Theogne Ntampaka and Alexis Nsengumuremyi were elected first and second vice presidents respectively, while Gakwaya was retained as Secretary General.

One notable returnee to the new executive committee was Patrick Itangishaka, who was elected to be in charge of mobilization and discipline. Itagishaka resigned from the same post last year citing personal reasons.

Talking to Times Sport yesterday Gakwaya said that this is a "new era” in the club’s illustrious history and that the new committee is determined to take the club back to its glorious days.

"Our main mission is for the club to start winning trophies. We shall not accept a situation of this club going another season without any silverware.

"The hard work has already been done, and we want to immediately start talks with some players whose contracts have expired,” Gakwaya said.
