A two-week regional workshop has resolved to take steps to encourage the involvement of children when decisions that affect them are made.

According to Rwanda’s delegate, Marcel Sibomana, sensitizing children and creating awareness on their rights and issues of participation in decision-making is an important issue that can’t be ignored .

The workshop brings together children’s associations to exchange ideas and share challenges, while seeking appropriate solutions on the promotion of children’s rights.

"The workshop will cover many aspects, but basically will embark on sensitising children about their rights, freedoms and limits and how they can be involved in decision-making,” Sibomana said.

He explained that although some children might be aware of their rights most of them don’t.
