FOLLOWING a disappointing exit from the just concluded IAAF World Championship Berlin marathon, Dieudonne Disi has turned focus on the forthcoming Francophone Games scheduled for September 27-October 6 in Beirut, Lebanon.
Disi said on Monday after returning to his training camp in France that he has shifted attention to competing in the 10,000m at the Francophone Games.
"Attention now turns to the Lebanon Games where I will be competing in the 10,000m. This is the time to stage a better performance following an unsuccessful quest for a medal in the Berlin Marathon,” Disi told Times Sport.
The 29-year old runner was forced to abandon the Berlin marathon race after 30km after he suffered a cramp in his right leg.
Disi is the 10,000m Francophone Games defending champion but must be in good form if he is to successfully defend his title.
In the last edition held in Niger, Disi scooped a gold medal in the 10,000m and a bronze medal in 5000m while his team mate Epiphanie Nyirabarame won a bronze medal in the 42.195km women marathon.
Meanwhile, according to officials in the Ministry of Sports and Culture, the national team will start residential training camp before the end of this month.
