Once upon a time, there lived a boy called Junior. He was staying with his grandmama. Near their house was a big forest with nice looking trees and birds that would sing the best melodies.

Junior loved to go and play in the forest because it made him happy.

His grandmama always told him he could play as long as he did not go far into the forest. She said that deep in the forest there were wild animals and if Junior played inside, he would get lost.

Junior did not care much because he loved to play in the forest he could shout so loud and all the birds would fly away.

Since his grandma was now used to seeing the handsome junior playing nearby, she stopped worrying about him because he followed her instructions.

However, one day, Junior noticed that grandmama no longer watched him closely. So he decided to venture into the woods and see if there were really wild animals.

He walked inside and kept shouting at the birds as they flew away from the trees. 

He kept walking and when he looked back, he realized that he could no longer see his house. Junior was lost! He was scared and only prayed that no wild animal would find him.

He turned back and started running in the direction he had come from. He still did not see his house. He thought about shouting but he was scared, that a wild animal might hear him and eat him.

As he was running he heard the voice of his grandmama calling him.

There and then, he knew that home was nearby. Junior followed the sound of grandmama’s voice until he saw her. He ran and hugged her.

Junior said he was sorry for not listening. He also promised his grandmama that he would never go back inside the forest again.

From that day until he became a young man who could hunt with a bow and arrow, Junior never went back inside the forest.

Lesson we learn

This story teaches children to always listen and respect elders. Elders are our parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, older brothers and sisters.

Because Junior did not listen to his grandmamma, he got lost in the forest. No one wants to get lost or to suffer. So as children you need to listen to instructions.
