Barely five months after its inception, the organisation Youth Employment Systems (YES Rwanda), has connected over 52 people to jobs through its online site and physical job search services.

The job desk was instituted as a facility to link job seekers with prospective employers, where job seekers visit a specialized website and deposit their CV’s which are thereafter forwarded to different human resource managers interested in the specific candidates with the required skills.

In an interview with Henry Clerk Kisembo, YES Rwanda programmes coordinator and team leader, he revealed that on top of linking job seekers to employers, the organisation does capacity building to help create a competent workforce.
He also noted that they do not only link domestic jobseekers but even those looking for jobs outside the country.

"We also connect job seekers outside the country and we do outsourcing for other companies and organizations, many organisations are ready to work with us at different levels,” he noted. 

In an interview with The New Times, Jean de Dieu Kabengera, the head of the job desk at YES Rwanda noted that the number of people registering for the service is steadily rising, that about 1,200 CV’s have so far been posted on their website.

"People are beginning to reach out for our service, so far 52 people have gotten jobs through our connections, CV’s are increasing in number and we are impressed with the turn up,” he noted.

He said that some of the problems they face during the exercise include the employers demanding for long work experience which most of their youthful subscribers do not have.

YES Rwanda has advised employers to consider avenues like offering opportunities of internship and volunteerism to fresh graduates and those still in universities such that by the time they apply for the jobs they have the requisite experience.

YES Rwanda is a youth organization devoted to finding meaningful employment opportunities for the youth as well as empowering them to reach a level of self employment such that people’s livelihoods can be improved.
