KCC win by one wicket

Kigali Cricket Club needed some patient batting from Mehboob Jasat before registering their first win in the inaugural MM Industries 20/20 tournament that threw off last Sunday at Kicukiro Cricket Oval.

Having restricted Young Tigers to 85 runs in the allocated 20 overs and posting 45runs for the fall of the first wicket, KCC seemed to be cruising to an easy victory before the game turned on their heads.

The Indian-dominated club lost five wickets for less than twenty runs thanks to Evode Mutuyimana who picked three wickets in two overs to put the pressure back on KCC.

At this point, the game looked like it could go either side until Mehboob Jasat put the game beyond Young Tigers with a matching winning 22 runs.

After the defeat, Young Tigers’ captain Andre Kayitera said that his club was caught off-guard in this form of the game.

"I don’t think we were psychologically prepared for the game.

We were beaten by KCC in all departments.

Our bowling and batting was below standard. We panicked on many occasions giving KCC plenty of control,” Kayitera conceded yesterday.

Lambert Dusabemungu top scored for Young Tigers with 21 runs.
