The Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Rwanda has opened up two up-country branches in a bid to consolidate its nation wide presence.

The two branches include one in Huye district in the Southern Province and another in Rubavu district found in the western province of Rwanda.

Maurice K. Toroitich, the Managing Director of KCB Rwanda said that the bank started operations and offers all services like those offered at the main branch.

"We expect to open more branches in the country side and in Kigali soon,” he said.

Toroitich said that Kigali will have two more branches in Remera and Kimironko to supplement the main branch located in the city centre.

"These are expected latest end of this month,” he revealed.   Aretha Rwagasore, the bank’s Marketing and Public Relation Officer said that the two more branches, which will be located in Musanze district (northern province) and Rusizi district (western province) are expected operational within next week.

The development comes a few months after the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) approved the Kenya bank giants to open four branches simultaneously.

Meanwhile, KCB Rwanda is also redesigning the KCB Group’s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) banking product to suit Rwanda’s SME structure.

This is also aimed at strengthening the bank’s position in Rwanda’s banking industry through financing SMEs, which constitute the biggest percent of the economy.
