MUHANGA — A row has erupted within the association of motorbike operators in Muhanga District ,known with the acronym COOTRAVEMOMU, over reports that about Rwf 18 million from its  financial year 2008 went missing.

The association members raised the complaints on August 13, during a heated meeting held at Mbonyumutwa Stadium.
The members accused their leaders of lacking financial transparency.

At the meeting, members demanded to be shown the association’s books of account after complaints were raised to the fact that the amount collected during the month of July amounting to Rwf.1.7 Million had been misused.

Subsequently, the association leaders including the chairman Etienne Musonera, were suspended to pave way for further investigations.

"The audit is the only solution to this problem and the truth will come out. I am ready for whatever outcomes emanates from the investigations of which I will be held accountable,” he said.

The cooperative elected an interim committee to follow up on the work of the audit and asked local leaders to be involved in resolving the matter.
