Silver, Gold, money, material possessions, name it will never compare to ‘a good name.’A good name wins all and a bad name causes desperate mistakes that people will always wish to makeup for but when it’s too late.

An ordinary bible phrase states that ‘a good name is better that wealth.’  Apart from the bible, many talks and journals have talked about the benefits of a good name.

Its not that a good name compares to wealth, a good name is better than wealth!As the craze for wealth and power rules over this modern world, all people care is being rich and having a say in the society for whatever it may cost.

Surely we have heard of people who kill others doing it for money. How about women who pour acid on their co-wives only because they want the husbands to themselves!

Because of anger, greed and circumstances, people have committed different iniquities without thinking of the great harm they will cause to their names.

It’s always the heart of revenge and getting even that crosses the human mind if anything is committed against them.

ittle do we know that the simplest and easiest way to achieve all that we need is through keeping a good name. Yearning for a good name amounts to all virtues of a good person.

"A person who does something without considering how others will perceive it is as good as dead,” says Joyce Abera.

Even if you asked a young remote kid about Nelson Mandela, they would know who he is because of the battle he fought against apartheid.There are more big names that we have grown up to adore, the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King and our very own president Paul Kagame.

On the contrary, there are other people that are suffering because of their fore father’s names; they did very terrible things to ever be forgotten.

Maintaining a good name doesn’t require a lot. All you have to do is carryout discipline even when no one is seeing you.
"I was blackmailed at work that I stole money, but because of the good record I had with my bosses, they bailed me out,” says Judith Mugisha.

Being trustworthy and reliable will keep your name pure. Say no if you have to but don’t accept to take risks that you know you won’t full fill.

Also indulging in only positive things can help build your name.
Let’s work upon leaving the best behind. We should sow seeds for our children and grandchildren by leaving good names behind, names they won’t be shy of.

Imagine it’s your funeral, is there anything good worth saying or it will be about the debts, and how you were a threat to the neighbors.
