The Director of Entrepreneurship Development and Business Incubation in Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Eusebe Muhikira, has urged youth have a culture of creating their own jobs other than seeking employment, which is increasingly becoming an uphill task.

He said this while officiating at an entrepreneurship development workshop for university graduates.

The workshop is part of RDB’s countrywide programme aimed at imparting entrepreneurship skills to all unemployed graduates across the country.

"Consider self employment and enterprise creation as a career choice,” Muhikira emphasised.

He urged 250 unemployed graduates who attended the workshop to start small income generating activities that will gradually land them in the class of the stronger Rwandan business community.

Muhikira also urged them to be innovative and embrace risk-taking if they are to be entrepreneurs who will add value in any business venture. 

He dismissed claims that starting a business needs a lot of money.

"Start a business that is within your budget, invest in it wisely and you will become an entrepreneur.”

The graduates requested to know if there is any help government is willing to give them to start such businesses.

In response, Muhikira said that RDB facilitates access to finance, market, technology and information when one has started the business.
