Rwandan children discovering the world through their computers

Editor,

With the now improved recognition of ICT in Rwanda, as a basic skill, I really want to acknowledge the Government’s courage and commitment in expanding ICT in the country.

RITA in particular deserves to be applauded for their commitment towards attaining this goal.

The One laptop per Child Team too deserve to be applauded too as they develop technology skills among Rwanda’s children.

I am acutely aware of how interested the general media and public as well as private institutions feel about this because they view this as a great stepping stone to prosperity.

But the essence lies in the fact that creating an ICT hub for Rwanda and the entire region is the biggest achievement the country is attaining.

The adoption of such policies reflects the Government’s genuine commitment to improving opportunities for its people.
ICT for development properly integrated into the nation’s workforce in basic and intermediate level skills is critical to our shared economic prosperity, and with this great merits and needs will ensure a stronger presence in our national life and unity towards development.
