Rwanda Cinema Centre (RCC) will participate in the Muhr Awards 2009, the Director Pierre Kayitana has confirmed.

The film "SETA: The Road Block” directed and produced by Eric Kabera, the founder and CEO of RCC and Juan Rein, was submitted to compete with other films and documentaries from different film institutions across the world.

"We submitted our film "SETA: The Road Block” yesterday [Wednesday] and we’re hoping for positive results,” Kayitana, told The New Times.

The movie is about the extraordinary journey of that evidence, to do with the brutal Genocide, as the original photographer returns to Rwanda, revisiting the people and events that he by chance caught on film.

As the footage returns to the community, friends and family relive the tragic events as they work with the photographer to identify the victims, and then eventually the killers.

The Festival’s twin Muhr Arab and Muhr Asia-Africa Awards, will offer more than US$575,000 in prize money for the best feature films, cast and crew, short films and documentaries.

Muhr Awards’ aim is to put talented filmmakers and exemplary films on the fast track to regional and international success.

Eligible countries for participation in the competition include: Rwanda, Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Botswana, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, China, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zambia, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe.
