Premises of Rwanda Polytechnic’s Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) based in Kigali have re-opened after two weeks of temporary shutdown over the investigation.
IPRC-Kigali was condoned off on November 23, due to the investigation of theft and misappropriation of public resources on the campus.
According to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) spokesperson Thierry Murangira, investigations will continue to be conducted so that whoever was involved is questioned and the equipment stolen recovered.
In addition, he disclosed that so far 20 people are being investigated while some are detained others are not.
The arrested officials, including the Principal, Diogene Mulindahabi, and 11 others, have since appeared before the court.
The New Times team on Monday morning, November 6 visited the premises to witness the re-opening.
Upon arrival, there were movements around and inside the compound. Students who spoke to The New Times journalists expressed their delight over the school opening.
There have also been adjustments in studying hours to facilitate students catching up with the lost time.
"We will be starting at 7:05 a.m to 5 Pm instead of 7:20 am to 4:30 pm as usual,”
The ministry of education announced the re-opening on November 4.
"MINEDUC informs that the campus will be re-opened to all students, staff, and the general public from Monday November 7,” reads part of the statement.
In addition, MINEDUC requested students who had returned home to come back to school on Monday to continue with their studies.
