League champions APR Fc have released long serving goalkeeper Aime Ndizeye alias Ndanda, Times Sport reports.

The 29-year-old former Burundian international and five other players including; Masudi Kaka, Christian Uwumukiza, Eric Serugaba, Basile Bazibuhe and Kimalwa wa Mwembu were yesterday released.

According to APR president Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame, the move is part of the club’s restructuring process in preparation for next season.

Kagame lauded Ndanda’s contribution to the club, noting that player will always have a special relationship with the club.

"He was a magnificent player for us for so many years. He won a lot with the team and we wish well in whatever he plans to do next,” Kagame said.

Apart from Elias Ntaganda, Ndanda has been the APR’s longest serving players having joined the military side in 1999 from Burundi.

He won seven league, two Cecafa club champions and six Amahoro Cup titles. He was part of APR’s greatest team of 2003/04, which dismantled Egyptian giants Zamalek in the Champions League.

But the last two seasons have been a turbulent period for him as he was relegated to second choice, behind Rwandan international Jean Claude Ndoli.

Reliable sources told this paper that the ten-time league champions are lining up Atraco’s Jean Luc Ndayishimiye alias Bakame as Ndanda’s replacement, but Kagame declined to comment on it.
