APR have refuted claims in the Ugandan media that they have acquired the services of Cranes international midfielder Johnson Bagoole from rivals Atraco.

Uganda’s Daily Monitor yesterday ran a story that the industrious midfielder will join Rwanda’s league champions next season in a deal worth $20,000 (about Rwf11 millions).

However, APR president Brig. Gen Alex Kagame denied the claims, saying that whatever was reported in Daily Monitor was false.

"We don’t have any intentions of signing Bagoole at all. We are only interested in Rwandan players,” Kagame told Times Sport yesterday.

He added that the source of the story (Emmanuel Kanamugire), the former club’s former Technical Director, will questioned for making speculations using the club’s name.

"Kanamugire assumed the role in the club seven years ago but has since left the club so he has no right to speak on the club’s behalf This is not professional and he has no right to divulge clubs issues to any media outlet,” Kagame said.

According to Daily Monitor, Kanamugire said, "An agreement has been reached between the two clubs. We have agreed personal terms with Bagoole and he should join us within three weeks for pre-season training.”

Meanwhile, Atraco vice president Issa Ngeze also expressed shock when news of Bagoole was broken to him. "This is not true because Atraco has not been engaged in any kind of talks with APR over Johnson Bagoole.

Bagoole has still one more year left on his contract with Atraco.”

Atraco signed Bagoole from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) last year on a two-year contract which expires in 2010.
