Miss National University of Rwanda (NUR) 2009, Sandra Uwimbabazi has returned in the country, after an unsuccessful FESPAM beauty contest.

Ivorian, Murielle Nanié is the Miss Pan-African Festival of Music (FESPAM) 2009, designated on August 5, in Brazzaville.

The once in two-years beauty contest, attracted 13 African countries, including Rwanda, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Faso, Senegal, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

Miss FESPAM 2009, received numerous prizes from the organizing committee and partners, a check of €3000 and a trip to Rio de Janeiro.

Nanie, who succeeds the Chadian Nicole Ramadji, elected in 2007, intends to work during her mandate for the advancement of women and the rights of the African Child.

The 22-year-old student at NUR, Uwimbabazi walked away with an award of pricey items (clothes and footwear).

"Even if I didn’t win, I gained a lot of experience after competing with the already experienced Misses,”

Uwimbabazi said, adding that, "I’m sure I tried, and judges appreciated my participation.”
