Gasheke residents outline achievements

MUSANZE - Over the weekend, the governor of Northern Province Aime Bosenibamwe visited Gasheke sector in Musanze district to see the sector’s progress in as far as development is concerned.

During his visit, area leaders outlined the achievements of the sector while the residents got a chance to recount their personal achievements.

At the event, 73 residents gave their testimonies of how poverty has now become history as result of joining cooperatives. Bosenibamwe appreciated the residents for their mind set change towards the development progress.

Kirehe cooperative get 48m

Residents in Kirehe district, Eastern Province, through their cooperative called Kamara have received Rwf48 million as a donation from Oxfam.

The money was donated as a way of promoting cooperative societies that as a way of eradicating poverty amongst them. Kamara cooperative deals with banana production.

Anastase Ntwaya, the chairman of the cooperative said that they needed money to buy computers for the proper management of the records.

Gicumbi residents meet over trauma

Residents of Gicumbi held a general meeting in conjunction with the foundation for Humanity Centred Development (FHCD) to discuss how to handle trauma cases among affected residents, especially Genocide survivors.

Liberata Niyonsaba the secretary general of FHCD said that the meeting was also aimed at developing women affairs in the community and their families and how they can further their social economic development.
