National Paralympic Committee president Dominique Bizimana has been appointed by the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) as the special advisor in charge of Sitting Volleyball for Africa.

Bizimana’s new role was confirmed by WOVD president Pierre van Meeren during the latter’s visiting tour of the country recently.

Accepting the task, Bizimana said he has always liked challenges and that he is ready to raise the sport of sitting volleyball on the continent.

"It is an honor not only for me but also for the country to be given such a big responsibility. But I always like challenges, and I’m more than ready to contribute to the development of sitting volleyball in Africa,” said Bizimana.

The 34-year-old also was recently voted to be the president of the East African Paralympic Committee.
