Rwanda v Egypt

Cyprus based defender Hamad Ndikumana ‘Katauti’ joined the national team camp yesterday ahead of Wednesday international friendly against Tanzania at Amahoro stadium.

Ndikumana, who features for Cyprus Premier League side AEL Limassol is the last professional player that has honored the Amavubi call.

The other professional, who have already reported in camp include; striker Cyrille Bille Kauame and defender Kaper Kauimi Didier.

Saddou Boubakary and skipper Olivier Karekezi will miss the friendly tie as they are currently engaged in looking for new clubs.

Ndikumana has been a key figure in the national team set-up since his return from a self-imposed exile last year.
He helped Rwanda reach the African Cup of Nations 2004 for the first time in history.

Rwanda will be using the game to prepare for the 2010 World Cup/CAN qualifier against Egypt on September 5.
Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Taifa Stars are expected to arrive in the country tonight for Wednesday’s tie.

Tanzania will be eying victory in the friendly as a way of laying ground for next year’s Africa Nation Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, in addition to improving their FIFA rankings.

While Rwanda, who have done little favour to aid their hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup and Africa Nations Cup, will be hoping for a home win for confidence building ahead of the Egypt game.

After the Tanzania encounter, Amavubi will play two friendlies against DR Congo before facing Egypt in Kigali.
