It is great to appreciate the new things brought about by "modernity”, but also get to understand that with it come a lot of negative changes. For example new trends, have had far reaching consequences on local musicians.

If we make a flash back to our beloved and vocalist artistes we had in past years, the likes of Jim lives, Lucky Dube, Kamaliza, Philly Lutaaya and others, they had songs which were educational, informational, sensitizing as well as entertaining.

These people had admirable and fantastic dressing code, good articulation and other good things which were decent to all categories of people.

But when I see our current artistes and where they are heading too, I feel like shading tears.

Now the trend has changed for someone to become a singer or artiste he/she has to learn how to smoke or use of different drugs.

There dressing code has absolutely changed, it’s incredible that some remove their top clothes and remain naked as well as using vulgar language.

Their music videos are full of obscene and abusive acts. I thought that it was in the western world, but it’s like this cancer is gradually entering in our local artistes.

One time, I was watching a music video in the sitting room with my dad, mum and relatives, but I was forced to rush out of the room with my eyes closed because of what was being aired on TV.

In a nutshell, current artistes and the up and coming ones should endeavour to emulate the old artistes and avoid scandalizing dressing.

They ought to learn that being a celebrity does not mean abusing drugs.
