EASTERN PROVINCE

KAYONZA - Twenty nine children drawn from different sectors of Kayonza District have been trained on HIV/Aids prevention.
The three –day training which started on Thursday is being conducted by the Society for Women and HIV/AIDS in Africa (SWAA).

"We are training children selected by the Ministry Of Gender and Family Promotion in conjunction with the children forum in the district,” said Shyikiro Gimu, the area programme officer.

During the training, the participants were also sensitised on children rights.

"We are happy that our fellow children know their rights. We are busy trying to inform them and parents that a child right is not a privileged,” Judith Bagwaneza, 14, a S.1 student at Kayonza Modern School said.

"It is unfortunate that we are not called to attend meetings like other leaders, yet we are part of the administration.”
