Editor,
I am an ardent supporter and participant in environmental conservation activities locally and regionally but I can’t fail to give kudos to the government’s investment in conserving the environment through REMA and other agencies.
I previously read a heart-warming story in your paper about the launching of a project to clean-up River Nyabarongo.
The way in which REMA and UNDP has handled this project is deserved because conservation of Nyabarongo has been the biggest missing link in the welfare of our environment.
Backed by the policy in line with this initiative I believe results are going to be witnessed just like the ban on polythene bags was effective to the extent that seeing a polythene bag is pretty shocking on Rwandan soil today, just like how REMA boss Rose Mukankomeje says time will come when a Rwandan child will swim freely in Nyabarongo.
I love the way the government in cooperation with our development partners are building a better Rwanda for today and the generations to come.
The good thing is that people’s attitudes are changing towards a better future, together we shall get there.
