ARUSHA - As part of efforts towards enhancing regional integration, members of the Diaspora communities in Arusha, Tanzania are gearing up efforts towards forming one Diaspora network.
In a meeting they held at the Kibo Palace hotel on Thursday, the members from partner states of the East African Community (EAC) underscored the importance of coming up with the forum, saying it would promote greater unity among EAC Diaspora communities.
Among other issues, the members agreed on a taskforce that would spearhead the process of having the forum operational in setting up its vision, mission and objectives.
"We thought of forming it to enable us meet more regularly as East African community members in the Diaspora,” said Geraldine Umugwaneza, the chairperson of the Rwandan Diaspora, who also chaired the meeting.
According to Umugwaneza, who is also the Deputy Registrar of the East African Court of Justice, EAC Diaspora communities in Arusha, have already shown willingness to form the regional network.
