NORTHERN PROVINCE

MUSANZE—The Government of Rwanda has donated 102 cattle to residents of two sectors of Rwaza and Gashaki under the One Cow-One Family programme.

Speaking to residents during the function, the national coordinator of the programme Dr. Evariste Ntamahungu said that it was a fulfilment of the pledge made by President Paul Kagame during the campaign.

He said that the cows were being given to them to ensure that their children could access milk produced from within their families. It was one of the ways to ensure that children got a nutritional balance of diet.

Cows are expected to be ‘loaned’ to the residents for rotation after the delivery of the first calf. Priority was given to the destitute after they were asked to grow grass and make a shelter for the cow.
