The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) will soon finalise digitalising the national curriculum as a way of breaking the monotony in the learning process. 

This was revealed by Gaspard Mucundanyi, the acting Director of ICT at NCDC.

"Our objective is to make attractive content that will make learning enjoyable,” he said.

In a demonstration, Mucundanyi displayed content being prepared for pre-primary and primary levels.

The demonstration was done during a visit by the new Minister of Education, Charles Murigande.

Mucundayi explained that they have also been receiving content to feed the digital curriculum from friendly countries but had to align it to the Rwandan education system.

"We received content from India but we had to contextualize it so that it identifies with the education and the Rwandan children,” he explained.

He disclosed that the One Lap Top Per Child project is an advantage to the digital curriculum for children living in areas with internet accessibility.

For schools  that have no access to internet, he said that they are copying the content on numerous compact disks to be distributed there.

He added that by end of this yea,r they will have posted digital content on the website ready to use.

Speaking to Charles Gahima, the NCDC Director General emphasized that the centre is also posting educational material for both teachers and students.

"Teachers shouldn’t come to us to ask about the curriculum; they should just log on to www.ncdc.gov.rw and find out about the curriculum and other educational material,” he said.
