GICUMBI - Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BP) Gicumbi branch on Sunday officially opened its new refurbished premises in the heart of Byumba town.

The building was commissioned by the Mayor Bonane Nyangezi, who represented Northern Province Governor, Aime Bosenibamwe. 

At the ceremony, Nyangezi hailed BP for supporting the government cattle stocking project by procuring Friesian cows which were supplied to residents on credit, and financing Biogas installation projects.

"Banque populaire du Rwanda is a partner in development and committed to supporting government’s effort in attaining Vision 2020,”said Nyangezi.

Dieudonné Murekezi, the bank’s Deputy Chief Executive officer, disclosed that the bank partnered with Holland based Rabo Bank in order to improve service provision to its clients.

"These services include full commercial banking operations countrywide to help deepening local banking provision to citizens,” Murekezi said.

Meanwhile, during the same ceremony, Murekezi launched the bank’s new ‘Hirwa’ Savings Account, which attracts a 50 percent interest rate annually.

"Hirwa account is designed to enable every Rwandan to save for a better future,” he added.

Also present were BP Change manager Peter Brugman and the bank’s Gicumbi branch manager Saidi Karegeya.
