NYAGATARE — The management and staff of Umutara Polytechnic University last week paid tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide at Gisozi memorial site in Gasabo District.

Upon their arrival, the group was given a guided tour around the mass graves where more than 25,000 victims are buried-before laying wreaths on the graves.

In an interview with The New Times shortly after, Dr. Eugene Ndabaga, the University’s vice Rector in charge of academics who led the delegation, described what they saw at the memorial site as horrible, adding that Rwandans should take a big lesson from it.

"What we have seen here is inhuman, and is unbelievable to have been done by some body called a human being. However, having said that it gives us a lesson as Rwandans to make sure that such inhuman acts can never and never happen again,’ he said.

The delegation handed a cheque worth Rwf100,000 to support the memorial site.
