Atraco FC‘s ex-midfielder Joseph Kabagambe is said to have vanished off with $3500 (Frw1.9M) Times Sport has established.
The club influential vice president Issa Ngenzi revealed yesterday that the Ugandan midfielder vanished with a sign-on-fee estimated at Frw1.9 millions shortly after signing a new two-year contract with the club.
"Kabagambe was given the money as sign on fee after extending his deal (with Atraco) last month but has since failed to report for the club’s pre-season training sessions,” Ngenzi said.
The former Uganda international is reported to have signed a two-year deal with Ugandan giants Express Fc after convincing them that he had no contract with any other club.
Ngenzi added, "Express have started asking for his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) through their national football body (Fufa) but we have already informed Ferwafa to freeze his ITC until we get a refund of our money”.
The midfielder has been listed on Express FC players’ list for Uganda’s Super league and the CAF Confederations Cup.
On recommendation from Atraco Ferwafa has refused to endorse the player’s ITC, making him the second player to be denied the transfer documents after former APR’s Francis Gonzaga.
The Ugandan defender is reported to have vanished off with Frw500, 000 as a sign-on-fee with SC Kiyovu.
However, the local football ruling body has already signed ITC for three players including Omar Hitimana and Morley Byekwaso who are joining Express from Atraco as well as Vincent Kayizi who has rejoined Kampala City Council from APR.
