NYANZA — 387 teachers drawn from different schools in Nyanza, Kamonyi, Ruhango and Muhanga districts have successfully completed an intensive training in the English language course.

The teachers were passed out on Thursday after a two week training held at ETO- Gitarama, in Nyanza District.
The Ministry of Education sponsored the training.

"The teachers will subsequently train other teachers in their respective district training centers. So far 800 teachers, in the Southern Province, have completed the same course,” said Antoine Mutsinzi, the training project coordinator.
The training was conducted by eight English tutors hired by the ministry.

At the pass out, the trainees were hailed for exhibiting extra ordinary talent and skills.

"The trainees have potential and skills which can be beneficial to the programme of propelling the use of the English language in Rwanda. We encourage them to help others and practice the gained skills,” one tutor said.

The beneficiaries also expressed gratitude to the Education Ministry for organising the training which they said will be used to boost quality of education standards in the province.
The Nyanza District Education Officer, Edward Mushimiyimana, lauded the training hosts ETO-Gitarama for the support rendered during the training.

He urged the trained teachers to work hard in order to contribute to the government goal of speeding development, through quality education.

Similar training will be held in December.
Meanwhile, the teachers contributed Rwf 228,000 as an initiative of helping survivors and poor families in Kigoma sector.
