The Institute of Policy Analysis and Research-Rwanda (IPAR) has revealed that 25% of the tourists experience bad customer service during their stay in Rwanda.
According to IPAR if customer service were to improve significantly, it could increase the Rwandan Gross Domestic Profit (GDP), as much as $40 million a year by 2012.
Sinigurisha in second phase
Last week the ministry of youth in conjunction with National Aids Control Commission (CNLS) launched the second phase of the "Sinugurisha” (I am not for sale) campaign.
The campaign which was launched early this year is aimed at eradicating cross generation sex where mature people seduce the young ones into having sex for gifts.
The second phase will embark on discouraging peer pressure which has been singled out as a major cause of this practice.
The campaign is being held under the theme: "True friends don’t put me at risk”.
Imbuto to host YFS - Part 5
Imbuto Foundation, under the leadership of its Founder and Chairperson, the First Lady Mrs. Jeannette Kagame will tomorrow host part 5 of its Youth Forum Series (YFS) under the theme; ‘Aspire to Inspire’.
Taking place at the Kigali Serena Hotel, the Youth Forum will attract on over 350 youth aged between 15 – 25 who study in the Diaspora and those who study in Rwanda.
It will be held with the purpose of discussing real or preconceived differences while illustrating ways how they can contribute to Rwanda’s development and emphasizing on the importance of hard work as a key to success.
Youths’ film to be aired on RTV
Rwanda television will start airing a short film "Ibyiza birimbere” as part of the on going anti-cross-generation sex.
The movie was made by a local filmmaker in conjunction with a local NGO called Rwanda Allied for Peace and Progress (RAPP).
The film was written by talented students from FAWE Girls School who were selected after winning a 60 school theater competitions on the Sinigurisha campaign themes.
Taxpayer’s day
The Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) will today celebrate the national taxpayer’s day in Gicumbi district in the Northern Province.
The tax body normally on taxpayer’s day recognizes the most of the outstanding taxpayers as a way of encouraging others to follow suit.
This year, RRA also engaged in giving back to society by facilitating Gicumbi residents to access clean water and other activities that cost Frw 11 million.
According to the commissioner General RRA, Mary Baine the celebration is due to appreciate the residents for the fulfillment of their obligations while making timely and accurate payments of taxes.
ELECTROGAZ on water crisis
Following weeks of water shortages especially in Kigali City, the energy and water producer and distributor, ELECTROGAZ will today hold a press conference on the current situation.
The press conference will be held after a tour around the town to witness the impact of the problem and what has been done by the utility in trying to arrest the problem.
